aftermira is a personal wellness application for recording drinking behaviour and comparing it with information from Apple Health. This Privacy Policy explains what information aftermira handles, where it is stored, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

aftermira is published by Dane Turville, operating as an individual. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Dane Turville is the data controller where aftermira determines the purposes and means of processing personal data.

Depending on the features you use, aftermira may handle:

aftermira also creates technical identifiers, timestamps and migration/version values for its own records so that local persistence and optional iCloud synchronisation work reliably.

Device-local technical information

aftermira uses standard iOS storage for limited device-local state, including feature preferences, app navigation state, synchronisation preferences and data-safety information. A non-sensitive marker is stored in the iOS Keychain to help distinguish a returning production installation from a genuinely new installation and reduce the risk of overwriting existing data.

aftermira also uses Apple’s unified logging system for technical and persistence diagnostics. The app does not include a developer-operated telemetry or log-upload service.

3. Apple Health and HealthKit

Health access is optional and controlled by you through Apple’s permission system.

If you enable Health integration, aftermira requests read access only to:

aftermira uses this information to display personal trends and comparisons, calculate a Sleep Score, build personal baselines and provide recovery-related insights alongside your drinking history.

aftermira does not request HealthKit write types and does not write, alter or delete your original Apple Health records.

Raw HealthKit measurements and derived values such as Health baselines and recovery state are not stored in aftermira’s CloudKit-backed SwiftData models. Health information is normally processed in memory. To support the Home experience, aftermira may also keep a small device-local cache containing the current day’s HRV, resting heart rate and Sleep Score together with related baseline values and insight text. This cache is stored in the app’s private Application Support area and is marked by aftermira to be excluded from device backup. Weight is not included in that Home Health snapshot.

You can withdraw Health access at any time using iOS/Apple Health privacy settings. Turning Health integration off stops aftermira from requesting new Health information, subject to information already held temporarily or in the device-local cache described above.

4. Local storage and optional iCloud sync

aftermira’s app-owned activity and preference records are stored using Apple’s SwiftData framework.

In production, you can choose whether to use iCloud synchronisation. If iCloud Sync is enabled, eligible aftermira-owned records are synchronised through the private CloudKit database associated with your Apple iCloud account. The configured CloudKit container is iCloud.com.naviavia.drinktrace.

The synchronised data may include the aftermira activity and preference information described in section 2. It does not include the HealthKit measurements, Health snapshot, Sleep Score history, Health baselines or recovery calculations described in section 3.

Apple’s private CloudKit database is associated with your iCloud account and is designed for data owned by that user. aftermira does not operate a separate cloud account or proprietary backend for this data, and the application does not provide Dane Turville with a normal interface for browsing individual users’ private CloudKit records.

You can use aftermira with iCloud Sync disabled. Disabling iCloud Sync stops aftermira from attaching its production SwiftData store to CloudKit for future synchronisation. It does not, by itself, delete your local history or records that were previously synchronised to your private iCloud database.

For data-safety purposes, aftermira may also maintain a local JSON safety backup of app-owned SwiftData records inside the application container. This backup contains app activity/preferences, not HealthKit measurements or derived Health/recovery values.

5. How information is used

aftermira processes information only for purposes connected with operating the app, including to:

aftermira does not use Health or drinking information for advertising, marketing profiles or third-party behavioural tracking.

6. Notifications

If you enable reminders, aftermira uses Apple’s local notification APIs to schedule reminders on your device. Notifications may include reminders to log drinks or review Health/recovery information.

The current application does not register your device with a developer-operated push-notification server and does not contain a remote-push backend. The project has Apple notification capabilities configured, but the implemented reminder behaviour is local to the device.

Notification content may be visible on your lock screen depending on your iOS notification-preview settings. You can change notification permissions and preview behaviour in iOS Settings.

7. Data export

aftermira can export app-owned data in JSON or CSV format. The export can include your aftermira settings, drink entries, alcohol-free days, planned/blocked days, recurring alcohol-free weekdays and drinking-intensity ratings.

The export does not include raw HealthKit measurements, the local Home Health snapshot, Sleep Score history, Health baselines or recovery calculations.

Exports are created as temporary files on your device and presented using the standard iOS share sheet. Once you choose another application, cloud service, person or destination, that destination’s privacy practices apply to the copy you share. aftermira does not control exported files after you send or save them elsewhere.

8. Analytics, advertising and tracking

aftermira does not sell personal data and does not combine your information with third-party datasets for advertising or tracking.

9. Third-party services

aftermira relies on Apple platform services including:

Apple processes information under its own applicable terms and privacy policies. aftermira does not reproduce or control Apple’s separate privacy practices.

Website hosting

The aftermira website and this Privacy Policy are delivered using Amazon Web Services, including Amazon S3 and CloudFront. Visiting the website may cause AWS to process normal website-request information, such as an IP address and basic request details, to deliver and protect the site. Website hosting does not give AWS access to your aftermira application data.

No other third-party runtime SDK or developer-operated external API was identified in the current application implementation.

Where the UK GDPR or EU/EEA GDPR applies to processing for which aftermira is responsible, the legal basis depends on the feature and information involved.

For core app information you choose to record, processing is generally necessary to provide the functionality you request, including recording, displaying, calculating and exporting your activity history. Where applicable, this is treated as processing necessary to provide the requested service or perform the agreement with you.

Health integration is optional. aftermira relies on your consent for access to Apple Health information. Because Health information may constitute special-category personal data, aftermira relies on explicit consent where that additional condition is required. You can withdraw Health permission at any time through iOS/Apple Health settings. Withdrawal does not make earlier lawful processing unlawful.

Optional iCloud synchronisation is also under your control and can be disabled in the app. Limited technical processing necessary to maintain application security, data integrity and persistence reliability may be carried out where required to provide the service or, where appropriate, for legitimate interests that do not override your rights and freedoms.

11. Retention and deletion

aftermira does not operate a general developer database with fixed server-side retention periods.

App-owned records stored locally normally remain until you edit them or delete them using an application data-management action. Local data-safety backups may remain within the app container while they are useful for protecting against data loss and may be replaced as the app creates newer snapshots.

Settings includes Delete All My Data. This removes aftermira-owned SwiftData records, including drinking history, drinking-intensity ratings, alcohol-free days, planned/blocked days, recurring alcohol-free weekdays and app settings. It also clears pending aftermira local notifications, app-owned safety backups, temporary export files, onboarding/deep-link state and the device-local Home Health presentation snapshot.

If iCloud Sync is enabled, aftermira deletes the app-owned records through its SwiftData store and waits for a successful CloudKit export event so corresponding records can be removed from your private CloudKit database. If iCloud is unavailable or that CloudKit deletion export cannot be confirmed, aftermira reports the failure rather than claiming that synced iCloud data was deleted. Turning iCloud Sync off stops future synchronisation but does not, by itself, delete records already present in your private CloudKit database.

Original Apple Health records remain under the control of Apple Health and are not deleted by aftermira. Delete All My Data clears aftermira-owned settings, history, notifications, backups, temporary exports and derived local presentation cache only.

Exports remain under your control after you create and share them.

Because information stored only on your device or in your private iCloud database is not normally available to Dane Turville for direct retrieval, contacting aftermira cannot necessarily result in remote retrieval or deletion of that information. We can, however, help explain available controls and address privacy questions.

12. International processing

aftermira is distributed internationally. The app does not send your activity or Health information to servers operated by Dane Turville.

When you choose to use Apple services such as iCloud/CloudKit, Apple may process service data using infrastructure in different countries in accordance with Apple’s applicable privacy and data-protection arrangements. This is processing carried out through Apple’s service infrastructure rather than an independent aftermira-operated international transfer system.

aftermira uses privacy and security protections provided by the Apple platform and its architecture, including:

The local Home Health snapshot is stored in the app’s private Application Support area and marked to be excluded from device backup.

No security measure can guarantee absolute security. You should protect access to your iPhone, Apple Account and any files you export from aftermira.

14. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and whether applicable data-protection law applies, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent.

If you are in the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). If you are in the EEA, you may have the right to complain to your local data-protection supervisory authority.

15. Age requirement

aftermira is intended only for people aged 18 or over. It is not intended for children or anyone under 18.

aftermira does not currently perform independent age-verification checks, so users should not use the application if they are under 18.

16. Wellness, not medical advice

aftermira is a wellness and informational application. Its Health comparisons, Sleep Score, baselines and recovery insights are intended to help you understand personal patterns.

aftermira does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, clinical advice or emergency health monitoring and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional. If you have concerns about alcohol use or your health, seek appropriate professional medical advice or support.

17. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when aftermira’s features, data practices or legal obligations change. When it is updated, the Last updated date at the top of the policy will be changed.
